For a second day, the building’s management agent had workers work to dismantle the water tank that was the nest and roost site for the Upper West Side American Barn Owls. Quick action by government officials, the NYS DEC and New York City Bird Alliance halted the work.
I visited in the evening, and the activity around the tank was less than the previous night which was to be expected. I suspect the fledglings are already finding alternative places to roost and spend their evenings.
