I still can’t believe it’s June and we’re still keeping track of this family of owls.  Tonight, we got to see all three kids together.  It was nice to see they are still all doing well.

June, yes, June.  I never thought we would be able to keep track of them this long.  Tonight, it was impossible to find them until just before flyout.  Then an adult moved down, and traded calls with it’s mate.  One adult went south.

But the kids came down low, and bounced about in tree limbs about 8 feet from us, at eye level,  along the path for about ten minutes.  It was a magical ten minutes as we watched them close up.  Then they moved off for the night.

I felt totally outwitted this evening.  They looked to be going down to the stream after fly out, so I set up to watch them by the water.  Instead, they came down, saw a raccoon and went off in a different direction.  So, only one photograph tonight.

The owls were very hard to find in their standard tree this evening.  The leaves are fully out on the tree.

After fly out, they went down to the stream had some fun, went close to us and then disappeared.  It was great to see them by and in the water.

It was just two of us watching tonight.  We lost the owls quickly after fly out.  We would have gone looking for them, but a long day of birding and a warning from a Zone Gardener that a mugging had just taken place by The Pool made us choose to make it a short evening.
