Pale Male
Somtimes Pale Male is in plain sight. Tonight, he hunted and ate, both a bird and a rodent, in under an hour around 79th Street and Fifth Avenue. He made it easy to take his portrait.
Lima, Pale Male’s Mate
Lima was on a Fifth Avenue building around 77th Street this evening. After sunset she appeared to fly to a tree she had used as a roost in late March.
There were no signs of the lighter chested youngster this evening, and many hawk watchers wonder if it has left home.
Yellow-breasted Chat
I’ve been out of town, but have returned and I was able to spend a few hours in Central Park this afternoon. Here are some pictures of a very shy Yellow-breasted Chat who was the highlight of my afternoon.
Youngster Still Begging
The lighter chested fledgling of the Fifth Avenue nest still hasn’t left home. This evening it begged for food from its mother, who ignored it. This kid really should have left home by now. It will be interesting to see how long it will be staying.

Sora Continues
The Sora continues to be seen on Turtle Pond. It is seen in the early mornings and briefly in the late evenings. It’s been a joy to see a little more of this very secretive bird each day.
Pale Male
The Fifth Avenue parents have one kid away and the lighter colored kid refusing to leave home just yet. The reluctant youngster keeps harassing its parents for food, even though it can hunt on its own. These days it looks like the parents are doing there best to hide from the youngster so they can have some peace and quiet!
